Chapter 01

Information we collect

We collect the information needed to run the bookstore, fulfil orders, protect accounts, and support readers.

Account and profile information

When you create or update an account, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, profile image, saved billing and shipping addresses, and a securely processed password record.

Orders, payments, and reading access

We keep cart items, selected editions, quantities, prices, order and payment status, billing and delivery snapshots, fulfilment details, digital entitlements, reading progress, and download activity. We do not ask for or store your online-banking password, card PIN, or one-time code.

Messages and technical information

If you contact us or submit a review, we receive the information you provide. The service may also process IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, session activity, and security signals needed for downloads, troubleshooting, fraud prevention, and abuse limits.

Newsletter subscriptions

If you subscribe to the Sandleen Letter, we store your email address when you subscribe, and you can unsubscribe through the link in the welcome email.

Chapter 02

How information is used

Personal information is used for clear operational purposes connected to the service you request.

Providing the bookstore

We use information to create and secure accounts, maintain carts, process orders, confirm payment, deliver physical books, activate digital access, show order history and reading progress, and respond to support requests.

Communication and safety

We send transactional messages such as order confirmations, payment instructions, delivery updates, and replies to enquiries. Technical information may be used to diagnose problems, enforce limits, prevent misuse, and protect readers and the store.

Service improvement

We may use aggregated or de-identified information to understand store performance and improve content, navigation, fulfilment, and reader features. We do not sell personal information.

Chapter 03

Sharing, storage & retention

Information is shared only where needed to operate the store, complete a request, or meet a lawful obligation.

Service providers and fulfilment partners

Relevant information may be handled by hosting and storage providers, database and email services, couriers, payment or banking channels, and professional advisers. Each receives only the information reasonably needed for its role. Providers may process information in the countries where their infrastructure operates.

Legal and protective disclosure

Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to a valid legal process, enforce store terms, investigate fraud or security incidents, or protect the rights and safety of readers, the business, or others.

Retention

We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including maintaining your account and library, fulfilling orders, resolving disputes, keeping financial records, and meeting legal obligations. Some records may remain after account closure when retention is required or justified.

Chapter 04

Cookies, security & your choices

Account access depends on essential browser storage; you also have choices about the information connected to your profile.

Essential cookies and local storage

The website uses an essential HTTP-only session cookie to keep you signed in securely. Customer sessions have a fixed seven-day lifetime, while administrator sessions use a shorter rolling inactivity window. Browser storage may briefly hold a pending cart selection so it can continue after sign-in. Blocking essential storage may prevent account, cart, checkout, or library features from working.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including hashed passwords and session tokens, access controls, server-side authorization, and protected database operations. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized account activity.

Access, correction, and deletion requests

You can update personal details and saved addresses in My Account. You may also contact us to ask about access, correction, or deletion of personal information. A request may be limited where information must be kept for orders, accounting, security, disputes, or other lawful reasons.
